We defend the interests of the vehicle manufacturers, assemblers and importers grouped within their national federation.

OICA represent the global auto industry that drives economic progress. Through our autos, we connect people, products and services to enhance quality of life and sustainable automobility. We are committed to technological innovation in the areas of safety, environnement, fuel efficiency, and we seek global harmonization of safety and environmental standards to benefit all countries.

We are working together around the world.

The organization’s membership comprises 35 trade associations around the world, including all major automobile manufacturing countries, thereby covering virtually the entire motor vehicle industry all over the world.

The organization conducts activities in the fields of technical affairs, communication, and industry statistics. In addition, the Organization Exhibition Committee coordinates international motor shows.

Exhibitions, Technical, Statistics, and Communication Activities

OICA’s main activities are in the fields of technology, communication, statistics and the coordination of international motor shows worldwide. Various committees represent the common interests of automobile industry, and in particular its member associations, at the international level to governments, organizations and to the general public.

Discover The key dates that have shaped our history and legacy over the years

1919

The Association Bureau Permanent International des constructeurs d’automobiles (BPICA) was founded in Paris. Its aim was to enhance all motorshows worldwide.

1956

The Technical Committee was established to coordinate the technical activities of OICA member associations and serve the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe’s (UNECE) World Forum for Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations (WP.29).

1986

The association’s name changed from the Bureau Permanent International des Constructeurs d’Automobiles to the Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d’Automobiles (OICA).

1994

The Statistics Committee was established to compile global automobile data.

2012

The Communication Committee was created to share input from global automotive industry experts through press releases.

2019

OICA celebrated its centennial in Paris with global VIPs.

2025

Rebirth of OICA’s key committees: Forum, Economics, and Exhibitions.

Council

OICA is governed by the General Assembly, directed by the Council, and managed by the Secretary General, who oversees technical activities with two engineers.

Technical Committee

Regulation & safety/innovation, enhanced coordination of positions, sharing of impact and implementation analyses.

International Motor Show Committee (IMS)

Exhibitions & industry image, consistent promotion of international trade shows and joint initiatives to better explain the transformation of the sector.

Economy-Information Committee (EIC)

Strengthening of an economy-statistics hub that brings together the economic & statistical directors of member organizations to produce indicators, international comparisons, and policy briefs. For PR, same with clear, fact-based messages to support members, inform public debate and decision-makers.
