The Motor Industry Association welcomes the Government decision to introduce transitional financial relief and undertake a full review and overhaul of the Clean Vehicle Standard. These changes restore balance, support real emissions progress and address an economic and environmental problem that had become unsustainable for the vehicle market and for consumers.

ACEA: New car registrations: -0.1% in August 2025 year-to-date; battery-electric 15.8% market share
By August 2025 year-to-date (YTD), new EU car registrations edged down by 0.1% compared to the same period last year, despite marking a second consecutive month of positive growth.
IVIA: Monthly Review August 2025
Passenger car registration: an increase of 24.2% compared with August 2024. Since the beginning of the year, 212,738 new cars were registered, an increase of 4.5% in deliveries compared with last year. The market share of pure EVs currently stands at 17.8%. Commercial Vehicles above 3.5 tons registration: 22.2% increase compared with August 2024. Since January, 9,740 CVs and Buses have been registered, the same as Jan-Aug last year.
