New-Zealand

Our Organisation

The Motor Industry Association (MIA) is the collective voice of New Zealand’s new vehicle sector. We represent 99% of authorised OEM importers and distributors across light passenger, light commercial, motorcycle and heavy commercial vehicles.

We bring together industry leadership, technical and policy expertise, and authoritative data to inform the decisions that shape New Zealand’s transport system. As a trusted national voice, we advocate on behalf of our members to ensure the sector is represented with clarity, credibility and consistency.

Our Purpose

Our purpose is to empower New Zealand’s new vehicle sector by turning industry expertise into influence, and leadership into outcomes that strengthen our members and support a connected, sustainable and trusted transport future.

What We Do for Our Members

We provide technical expertise, industry data and market insights, government relations and advocacy, and operational support that cannot be effectively delivered by individual firms acting alone.

We work at the intersection of industry, government and the public, using trusted data, technical leadership and pragmatic policy expertise to inform regulation, support market development and improve system performance.

Through this, we advance safer roads, cleaner mobility and a transport system that is sustainable, resilient and fit for the future.
