TIC

Truck Industry Council

Australia

Association Storytelling

The Truck Industry Council (TIC) was formed in 2001 as an independent organisation to represent the united views of truck manufacturers, importers, diesel engine companies and major component suppliers to Federal and State Governments, political parties, associated industry groups and the general public.  Previously, TIC existed as the Commercial Vehicle Committee of the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) for 30 plus years.

Vision

The vision of the Truck Industry Council is:

Today’s Trucks: Safer, Greener, Essential

The trucks sold in the Australian market today are:

  1. Safer: Advanced technologies being developed and employed by manufacturers to make the operation of a heavy vehicle safe for drivers and operators as well as for all road users sharing the road;
  2. Greener: Traditional power train technology is continuously being developed and employed delivering vehicles that are more environmentally friendly for all people. The transition to new Zero Emission Vehicles is important as our society desires a move to decarbonization, however this technology is misunderstood in the Commercial Vehicle space and it is incumbent on TIC to assist in the advocacy and education process to enable a successful transition.
  3. Essential: The public appreciates and understands the essential need for trucks on Australian roads, the role trucks play in the economy and in improving the individual’s standard of living.

Mission

The mission of the Truck Industry Council is to promote the goals of continued growth, positive image and viability of a successful truck and major components industry in Australia.

Scope

The role of the TIC will be to provide external communications to its defined audiences and internal communications to members. The scope of the communication includes:

  • Advocating and influencing governments (Federal and State) to enact, change, remove or reschedule legislation and regulation;
  • Advocating and influencing opposition parties and work with related industry associations to enact, change, remove or reschedule legislation and regulation;
  • Education and liaison with the public and media; and
  • Practical support, services and communications to members.
