The International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA) is pleased to welcome the German Association of International Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (VDIK) as its newest member.

VDIK represents international passenger car and commercial vehicle manufacturers with commercial operations in the country, with a key focus on sales, aftersales, and regulatory compliance.

The association brings together more than 50 non-German automotive brands from 14 countries, whose members account for more than 1.2 million passenger-car sales annually. This equates to nearly half of sales of new vehicles on the German auto market.

VDIK joins OICA at a pivotal moment for the global automotive industry, as manufacturers investing heavily in electrification, digital technologies and new mobility solutions.

Recent VDIK policy initiatives have highlighted many of these challenges, including energy affordability, charging infrastructure, industrial competitiveness and support for innovation.

VDIK will benefit from OICA’s worldwide reach, and its ecosystem of automotive associations spanning all global markets.

François Roudier, Secretary General of OICA, said: “The automotive industry faces a defining challenge: maintaining competitiveness whilst delivering the transition to low-emission mobility. Success will depend on innovation, investment and coherent regulation. We are delighted to welcome VDIK to OICA as we work together to address these shared global challenges.”

Alexander Jess, Managing Director of VDIK, added: “Joining OICA is an important step for VDIK. The challenges facing the automotive sector, from electrification and competitiveness to regulation and trade, are increasingly global. These challenges can only be overcome when organisations and OEMs, from across the globe, work together to find common solutions.”
